About Sherwood, MI - Happy to be your hometown Heating & Air Conditioning Contractor!

Sherwood, Michigan is a small village found in Branch County. About 310 people live in this community found near the St. Joseph River. The village was founded by Alexander Tomilson in the 1830s, and it was named after Sherwood Forest in England. In 1878, the community was incorporated, and around the same time, the first brick schoolhouse was constructed. That building still stands, and it serves as the local Masonic Lodge. Sherwood is also known as being the site of the oldest Free Methodist Church in the state.

With only a few hundred residents, there aren’t any big attractions located in Sherwood. Unique furniture pieces can be found at Bargain Barn or Woodcrafters Custom Furniture, and Butler Hunting Products may also offer some necessities to locals. Sherwood is home to Branch District Library – Sherwood Branch, and locals may also want to take a short drive north into Athens to visit the Critchlow Alligator Sanctuary.

In terms of the weather in Sherwood, residents should be prepared for anything. The spring season is wet, but temperatures will warm up until the summer season. Average daytime highs at the peak of the season reach about 70 degrees Fahrenheit, but the area is known for high humidity, which will make it feel even warmer. Central air conditioning is the premiere way to cool of a space, as it offers energy efficient cooling that will also improve indoor air quality and lower cooling costs.

Winters in Sherwood vary quite dramatically from summer conditions. Snowy skies and freezing temperatures are common, and there are many days in which thermostat readings stay well below freezing. It is recommended that Sherwood residents use the milder autumn months to schedule their regular furnace maintenance, as this service could avoid the potential stress of future repairs, and it will also improve the system’s overall efficiency.
