About Colon, MI - Happy to be your hometown Heating & Air Conditioning Contractor!

Colon, Michigan is a village found in St. Joseph County. The population was over 1,170 residents as of 2010, and the history of the community dates back to 1844. The village is found alongside Palmer Lake and Long Lake, which are connected via a thin channel. Colon is the burial site of the famed magician Harry Blackstone, Sr., and the community has been recognized as “The Magic Capital of the World.” In fact, the teams for local Colon High School are even known as the “Magi”.

While Colon is a small village, there are a few noteworthy things to do here. Crows Nest Archery is a popular destination for visitors who want to try the sport, and local stores like Village Pharmacy and Colon Spee D Mart are also found here. The historic Colon Train Depot is located on Depot Street, and residents in need of a new look might want to visit Headquarters Salon. The community is home to several diners and cafes, including M & M Grill, Dawn & Phil’s Café, and River Lake Inn Restaurant.

There are many things that make Colon unique, and the varied weather conditions here is one of them. Outdoor enthusiasts who love to cross country ski and snowshoe will enjoy the winter season, as considerable snow falls in the region. Temperatures are low and in the 30s, so it is important that residents have a place to warm up after a long day playing outdoors. Gas and electric-powered furnace systems are both good heating options in Colon, and residents in the market for a new unit should seek out one with a high AFUE rating.

Summer weather is just the opposite. Temperatures warm up throughout the spring and lead to highs in the low-80s by July. High humidity levels can also impact the area, leading to uncomfortable conditions in the afternoon and overnight. A central air conditioner will offer better cooling than a window unit, and all members of a household will remain comfortable throughout the day.
