The city is served by Galesburg-Augusta Community Schools, which consists of an elementary and high school within the city limits.

There are many interesting places to visit in Galesburg. Antique hunters will have several options to discover a unique treasure, including Burgess Antique Center and Grant’s Antique Mall. Bell’s Comstock Brewery is a great place to try a unique local brew, and Andrea’s Café and Pizza Too is a popular destination for breakfast or lunch. River Oaks County Park is home to 20 soccer fields, and visitors might also like to check out Hickory Ridge Golf Course and Go Go Classics Cars & Showroom.

Galesburg residents should be prepared for anything in terms of the weather. Summers are very warm and sunny. Humidity levels are high, which can make the average high temperatures of 80 degrees feel even warmer. Central air conditioning is the ideal way to stay cool throughout the season, as it offers energy efficient and consistent cooling.

Weather conditions deviate from the summer norm during the winter months. Temperatures fall into the 20s and 30s, and overnight thermostat readings may be even lower. Add in significant snowfall and the possibility for blizzard-like conditions and you are left with a potentially dangerous situation both indoors and outdoors. For this reason, Galesburg residents need to research their home heating system options wisely, although most opt for energy efficient gas or electric furnaces. The right system will ensure that residents stay safe throughout the season.
